Perhaps it is because home-schooled students do so well academically that skeptics tend to redirect their criticism of the movement towards socialization. Most home school parents are deeply concerned about socialization - especially about the kind of socialization that occurs when large numbers of children of the same age spend long periods of time together, often leading an occurrence of too many "peer pressure" situations. These parents believe that the best socialization involves good role models and interaction with people of many ages and abilities (typically found in the real-life environment of the home and neighborhood).
